N-Con wet deposition collector

The following equipment and methods are being used for the collection and analysis of the atmospheric samples.

  • N-Con wet deposition collector
    - optical infrared precipitation detection for high catch efficiency
    - minimal horizontal surfaces reduces splash
    - temperature regulation to keep sampling train and funnel above 0° Celcius for snow sampling
  • Sample bottle precharged with 20 mL 1% Hydrochloric acid
  • Biweekly sample collected using ultra clean techniques
  • Samples analyzed for total and methyl mercury at the USGS Mercury Research Laboratory in Wisconsin
